Learning is just beginning...

Learning is just beginning means that our way of teaching is changing, the world has evolved and information is much more readily available through the internet that they way we teach and deliver information to the kids needs to change. We are now not the only source of their learning. Learning needs to come from within each child. We need to teach them other skills like: Thinking for themselves, problem solving, passion, drive, excitement with learning

I think kids need to be chatting and sharing information with each other more.

Confidence will come from them finding the answers themselves.

Providing tasks where our kids can build their confidence with finding the answer to the problem or question on their own. Rather than running straight to the teacher.

Providing lessons that teach them how to problem solve rather than give them the answer.
Working more in small collaborative groups and prepare the students to be able to deal with the surprises in life based problems/questions. Don't let them memorise the skills, they need to understand them.

I think there will always be a place for giving/feeding information to primary aged kids....but we need to continue to refine our inquiry program to including more child centered/child choice.

Help kids to understand that it's ok to fail, fail and fail again before they succeed. Failing is a way of learning, learning from our mistakes.

Could students be working on problems they want to find the answers to?

Chapter 1 - Rich seam

The new pedagogies require students to create new knowledge and connect it to the world by using the power of digital tools. How could this look at ISPS? #ISPSstaff

Students and teachers working together/partnership with the learning process the focal point for discovery.

We need to change how we deliver our lessons, not just pushing the knowledge onto the students by enabling them to use their knowledge in the world with technology/digital access as the pathway.

Technology will need to be used to discover and master content knowledge rather than be chucked into the classroom.

More specifically, all students will need to have greater access to devices and the internet. Students will need to be encouraged and expected to have greater input in their learning content, experiences and how they find their information and how they present it to us.
